Tek 7 was born as Audio Visual Design in 1985. Thanks to the wonders of the original Macintosh and a dreary but cheap hotel room on the upper west side of Manhattan, the company had a good start. Run originally as a "One Man-Many Hats" firm, Mark Bellehumeur was able to selectively concentrate on a few good companies in need of audiovisual assistance. As the predominant presentation technology changed from slide projectors to video to computer graphics, the company evolved and grew. Focusing on Fortune 500 businesses, universities and hospitals, there was no shortage of design work or system integration.
Over the last five years, the company has grown to 10 employees and a new office in Chelsea. Electrical subcontractors provide the additional installation muscle for larger projects. A new service department, showroom, and video conferencing suite are welcome additions to the general sales floor and office. Near future expansion includes a video conferencing bridge and enhanced internet services. Where will Tek 7 go from here? Wherever there is a need for technology that people can use and appreciate.
